Mahindra is already targeting the compact SUV segment with its XUV 300 model and the mid-size SUV market with its XUV 900 version. Parallely, Mahindra will soon be launching XUV 700 SUV, in the market, which boasts of three rows, to replace its XUV 500 model.
Now, it has made the move to trademark XUV 700 and three other names including XUV 900, XUV 400 and XUV 100.
The trademark applications by the company filed on April 7, are currently awaiting approval. By using the XUV name in the list of applied trademarks Mahindra , is possibly looking at expanding the portfolio of the models ,as well as making it a sub-brand.

The XUV 900 being contemplated by the company is expected to evolve as the flagship SUV of Mahindra and replace Alturas G4 as a full-size SUV.
Mahindra had launched the Alturas G4 in the year 2018 with many attractive features and competitive pricing. The vehicle, however, failed to leave a mark in the large SUV segment dominated by Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
The XUV 400 and XUV 100 are being portrayed to be smaller SUVs and very few details are available, as of now. Mahindra will roll out its XUV 700 model in the mid of 2022 and the much-awaited, next-generation Scorpio model of the company, code named Z101, is expected to be launched later. Once XUV 700 is launched, the XUV 500 model will be phased out by Mahindra. The XUV 400 model by Mahindra is expected to give tough competition to compact SUVs including Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
